In this day and age, there are many vices that may persuade you to act in a certain way. This can be viewed on television, movies or even viewed by their surroundings and how others act. These vices include alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes and many dangerous substances. This is witnessed by children at a young age and often makes them immune to their surroundings. This made the beginning of my high school experience a real struggle to find my place socially. It is extremely difficult to turn away from peer pressure and oppose your friends. I have stayed true to my morals and adapted to my surroundings. One of the main reasons I have opposed these actions to avoid could they have deeply affected my family members and I. When I was five years old my uncle was driving back from a trip when his wife veered off the road throwing him out of the vehicle. Unaware of her drinking, Bill had gotten in the car anyway. This is just one example of the many ways alcohol can alter your thoughts and actions. This killed him and was deeply traumatizing for my family. Ever since he was killed, I have stayed away from these vices and became more involved with school activities, because I have seen the never ending effects from these
