Ben And Katie's Conflict
I believe Katie and Bens relational style of conflict to be parallel. Both characters use mutually reinforcing behaviors while using the same tactics when addressing an issue. Katie and Bens matching hostility in their distressed marriage led to many escalatory spirals. At the same time, after the situation turned into a heated argument, the couple would withdraw from the situation with no solution falling into a de-escalatory spiral. Some of the main dilemmas in Ben and Katie’s conflict included the assertion of criticism. Ben attacked Katie for not being “the fun person” she used to be. And Katie attacked been from being “inattentive” and insensitive to her needs. Due to their lack of listening to one another, Defensiveness ruled out

Furthermore, it is the tension of conflict that prevents the characters from sharing moments of true intimacy. During a scene in Act One, Stephen tries to reveal to Judy some of the lowest points in his adolescence. However, neither can move beyond their contradicting beliefs about the relationship their parents shared; and inevitably begin arguing. Therefore, the characters cannot share intimate moments because of their misunderstanding of each other's beliefs, which then leads to conflict.…

The first incident of interpersonal conflict I observed is when the lady finds out that the guy she is dating is known as the relationship expert. She runs away from her filming crew and leave them standing. If trust and accurate information had been relayed to the parties involved, this incident could have been avoided. Even though the question of what he did for a living was never brought up (to my knowledge), if the right questions had been asked and answered this information would have came up in conversation. Then she brought this information up during the conflict to let him know she knows what his real job was.…

There are several types of conflict. Within our reading it discussed eight different types of conflict. Interpersonal conflict is one type of conflict which is a struggle that happens when two people cannot agree upon a way to meet their needs. Construtive conflict is when there is cooperation regarding the issues and helps build tools to fix the problems at hand. Destructive conflict is the lack of cooperation in dealing with the issues and breaks up relationships forever. Pseudo conflict is just a misunderstanding a meaning of something portrayed from the opposing party involved. Simple conflict is a basic difference in ideas, definitions, perceptions, or goals. One conflict experienced in the play is the relationship between Katie and her mother before and after the death of Katie’s father. Katie and her mother don’t have the best relationship and at times it seems that Katie wishes that she would’ve been in the car accident with her father. This is a conflict because it seems as if Katie may blame her mother for the death of her father for making him go out while she stayed at home and took care of Katie. This causes a lot of tension between Katie and her mother because she also feels as though the death of her father might also be her fault. At the end of the play Katie and her mother appear to be closer to each other and her mother even apologizes for the things she’s done in the past and talks about Katie’s father. This is important because after years of not really speaking about him it shows that their mother is just starting to cope with his death. Her mother states…

In a conflict, each person will have their own view of the situation at hand and react differently. As the old saying says, there are two sides to every story. For example, let’s say you have a couple that gets into an argument or should I say, a conflict, about their child spilling juice on the living room carpet. The mother may view it as being a simple mistake and can easily be cleaned, whereas the father may make a big deal out of it. Obviously, both perspectives are different based on their reactions.…

The conflict styles included in the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode instruments are competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accommodating. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), which is the overall difference between two or more groups, was used to determine if personality and family conflict resolution had an influence on the preferred conflict handling styles. First, the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Modes styles were used as the dependent variables, and the personalities measured by BFI as the independent variable. Then, the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode styles were the dependent variable and the FCRS was the independent variable…

Conflict is a universal concept that can be started in various ways, often leading to arguments or violence. In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, conflict arises of ten and between many characters. In Act 3 Scene 1, Tybalt, Mercutio and Romeo struggle to contain their anger leading to violence and death.
