Cannabis, or commonly known as Marijuana and many other names is a preparing of the cannabis plant for the use of medicine as well as recreation. Marijuana is a dry, mixture of green and brown leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the plant Cannabis sativa. Marijuana is commonly smoked in the form of a cigarette known as a joint. Some people mix tobacco with the marijuana to make it easier to smoke. It is also smoked in pipes and bongs. Marijuana is also used to make drinks and pastries such as cakes brownies cookies etc. It is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world along with nicotine, caffeine and alcoholic beverages. With the legalization of marijuana, there will be a reduction in crime and criminal activity due to the demolition of drug dealers’ markets as well as to deprive the cartels of a major source of revenue. The legalization of this product will cause less gang activity, and with the deprivation of the marijuana market, the cartels, dealers and gangs will fall thereby reducing the levels of crime in the nation. Legalization would also lead to less disputes due to the fact that people who want to use marijuana will be able to access it without consulting a dealer or a friend. Marijuana is also less addictive, it does not simulate aggressiveness and it hasn’t killed anyone from an overdose. Alcohol contains ethanol which is a sedative drug that acts on the human brain. Studies show that the overconsumption of alcohol can cause loss of coordination, staggering, slurred speech, feeling of confusion and disorientation and aggression. Consuming large amounts in very little time can lead to alcohol poisoning, violent vomiting, extreme sleepiness, unconsciousness, difficulty in breathing low blood sugar seizures as well as death. Marijuana on the other hand, has none of the above stated effects on the body, marijuana helps the user calm down when stressed or fueled with anxiety and it stimulates appetite. It helps the user’s metabolism by increasing it and making the user eat more calories to stay healthy. Marijuana basically does the opposite of alcohol. It can be used beneficial and instead of causing commotions it actually prevents it because the user is usually calmer and laid
