5.10 Final Draft
DRIVER’S LICENSE AGE
It would be personally beneficial to having the driving age lowered to fifteen years old. This would give me the ability to have a part-time job now. Also, I could go to the gym more to work out if I could drive. Then, if there were scheduled rodeos or ropings on dates that my parents already had plans, I would still be able to attend them. Several of my friends, which are also doing their schoolwork at home, like to practice roping during the day. Therefore, we would be able to get together since we could drive. Even though this may be advantageous for me, there are many other positive and valuable reasons to lower the driving age. Parents are always commenting that kids are growing up way too fast these days compared to years before. With this being said, teenagers must be mentally ready at an earlier age to drive. Before getting to drive, teenagers rely on their parents to chauffer them to events and jobs. Being able to drive, gives a teenager the ability to have a job if they want one and to sign up for outside the home activities. Young drivers will also be able to learn more about the world around them. They will be able to get to know the roads and area while still at home. Thus, becoming more aware of their environment and the people in it before leaving the nest for college or the after high school
