Bens Branch Elementary Classroom Observation

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.
The behavior clips were moved down to the color red, in which meant that students were behaving badly and their parents were going to be notified. She later on explained the writing issues that all of the students were doing, that consisted of capitalizing the first letter of a sentence and forgetting to add a period after a sentence. Mrs. Metcalfe related with the students by saying that when she was young, she committed those errors as well, but she learned from her mistakes and advised her students to go back to their work and fix their errors. Before the last minutes of class, Mrs.Metcalfe showed a video over the sources of light. Mrs.Metcalfe gave sticky notes to each student and instructed them to three things they had learned over the video after the video was over. In order to go home, Mrs.Metcalfe told her students that the sticky note was their exit ticket to go home. The students gave Mrs.Metcalfe their sticky notes when the bell
