The best policies to address climate change revolve around four categories: economic action, innovation, performance standards, and innovation. The first three categories are mitigation efforts, while the last category is adapting to the level of climate change already present. All of these categories are irrevocably linked; they may have some success separately, but they work best in concert with each other.

Halting deforestation and utilizing scarce resources more efficiently are other good adaptive initiatives to take on. Building defenses against floods and raising dyke levels can help lessen the impact of severe storms. Land use regulations, agricultural management, and modernizing infrastructure are other areas vulnerable to climate change that need to adapt.
