Since 1998, Fortune has issued a yearly list of companies that are believed to be the “100 Best Companies to Work For”. The job market is getting stronger, so when they obtain the best in American jobs they look for certain elements. I will be looking at the employee motivation and cohesion among employees in the top company, Google, the middle company, Factset Research Systems, and the last company, Cooley on the list. I will look to see if there is any difference because of the popularity of the companies. Specific procedures include interaction among peers and between leaders and members, cohesion and teamwork, "groupthink," group decision making, conformity, persuasion, leadership, communication, cooperation, competition, and intragroup and intergroup relations (Losh, 2011).
Google was founded in 1998 and is located in California. It is a search engine where you can find out literally any information from “how to’s” and “what happened”. Google employees 42,162 people and has a job growth of 20.1 %, as of 2014(Google.com). It has topped the list marking its eighth appearance and fifth time as number one. (Time Inc., 2014). Some motivation I have seen on Google Inc. employees receive $12,000 college tuition reimbursement, training is only 30 hours, and “Google launched Grow, an internal platform that helps employees find courses and jobs, get one-on-one advice and use other development resources at Google. It is a one-stop shop for Google employees to manage their own development within the company” (US Great Rated, 2015). Ninety percent of employees, either dyad or triad groups, say they enjoy their colleagues and find the workplace to be fun and equal (US Great Rated, 2015). One employee unnamed says, “I have never worked any place like this. It feels like working at a cross between Harvard,
