The Bible specifically tells us not to view the world with an ethnocentrism point of view. Romans 2:1 says, “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things” (NIV). It is telling us that no one has the right to judge others as inferior or lower than oneself because everyone has sinned and all sins are equal in the eyes of the Lord. Again in Matthew 7:5 it says, “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (NIV) This is saying that when someone calls out others for sins, they are a hypocrite. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, NIV). In other words, ethnocentrism is a lie when one thinks oneself above and superior to others. In contrast, a Biblical World View is viewing others through God’s eyes. In order to have a Biblical World View, one must look at people the way God would, not man. After all, Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (NIV) Everyone was created in the image of God.
