Amy Westervelt’s article “Bike-Sharing Grows Up: New Revenue Models Turn a Nice Idea into Good Business” explains… that bikes in other countries are very important and the main type of transportation. When the program first started it was going good until people began to take advantage of the program so it failed. After a national event in 2008, it led to an official program in 2010. With the help of advertising it began to help generate profits. In India they started a pilot which was successful and it began to spread worldwide. CityRyde began having problems with revenue and with their software system they were able to fix the problem. In Denver they learned that people bike systems casually and people didn’t use it as much as they expected
people to. With the bike system it also was used to help people with their health and keep people in shape but also make it a fun way to do so. Not only did it do that but it also help reduce pollution and save millions of dollars.
