After the incident we were instructed to remember what we saw during the explosive experiment. Each observation was written into our notebooks for recording purposes. We then were given different gases to research. Each gas contained different elements that almost linked itself to the scene . However, no gas matched entirely until we came upon Phosgene. symptoms Ms.Gura experienced during the visit with Ms.Taylor. Some symptoms included coughing, burning in throat, blurred vision, watery eyes, difficulty breathing, and nausea. Another key component to the investigation was the color and odor of the released gas. Phosgene is a white or yellow gas that smells like a slight fresh dew. Almost every student in my class concluded that Phosgene was released , due to the support of our observations and thorough research. Although , we were able to find out the gas that possible killed Ms.Gura we now needed to investigate what chemical caused Phosgene to be released .
We found out that Chlorinated hydrocarbons can result in the production of phosgene when exposed to high temperatures .Our class then gathered a variety of Chlorinated hydrocarbons that could be potential candidates for the release of phosgene.
Some included Carbon Tetrachloride, Chloroform , DDT, and Aldrin. Similar to the gases , we conducted research on each one. After fully analyzing each one as a class we agreed that Carbon Tetra Chloride was found in the drug. This chlorinated hydrocarbon is produced in large quantities to make refrigerants and propellants for aerosol cans. This is something you would never find in a medical lab. It's toxic and has no valid reason as to why it was in the drug that Ms, Taylor gave to Ms. Gura. This indication supports that this incident was not an accident. In fact it was an attempt for murder. Now we rest the case to the forensics and prosecution team. We hope they find the person who almost killed Ms.Gura and lock them up for good. We need some justice in this world and it starts with this
case.
