Biography of a Single Parent

My name is Germaine Hope. I am a single parent to a four year old boy, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).My son's most favorite thing is anything associated with animals. Currently my house has every conceivable type of animal and toys in varying sizes and textures. As you can imagine, every single space is occupied with animals. Even under the sofa cushions. We currently reside in Norfolk, Virginia. I am originally from the Island of Trinidad and Tobago, in the caribbean. I've been living in the United States for thirteen years and in Norfolk for the past eight years. We travel to the caribbean every year, as most of my family still lives there. I work as a nanny and I've had to develop a lot of patience and tolerance, and I can honestly say it has comein very handy when dealing with my son. I've been a nanny for the last thirteen years but I also work at a Caribbean restaurant on the weekends. My hobbies are cooking, dancing,reading, going to the movies, listening to music and any water activities that doesn't include heights. I am terrified of heights, which is unusual seeing that I am 5 feet 11 inches tall.
My decision to go backto school has been a long time in coming. I've done a few classes prior, but has never been able to finish for one reason or the other. I've put it off several times, but I'm finally at that point. No more excuses. Now that my son is older and I have all his classes and extra-curricular activities organized and under control, here I am.. I just pray that I can keep up with the class assignments and have them done on time. I am excited to be here and I look forward to my first semester and hope that as I go along, I get better and
