and 1 Hispanic).
As the course let out at approximately 1220, I observed mostly white students, 1 Asian, 1 Hispanic, and 1 Non-Traditional student. All students seem to enjoy the class with the exception of a male and female (both white) talking about how their not ready for the test and are thinking about taking a “W” in the course. I would have to say that these two individuals were at risk. Not by social economic class, but the fact they would take a “W” for a difficulty class.
Student interacted well together, I did notice the Asian girl and Non-Traditional student leaving class alone. The rest of the students seem to be interacting with their groups, but you still could see that there was a division. The not so attractive students were together while the more attractive students (sorority students) were interacting with just their groups. Most of the students were talking about the upcoming test and about the lecture on sharks.
Student behaved just as young college students would. Talking about life, class, parties, and test. Students seem to be friendly and upbeat coming out of the class. Students were not talking overly loud but I could listen to what their conversations were, and some I just cannot repeat. I observed the Asian female and non-traditional male walk straight out the lobby door without interacting with the other members of the class.
I observed how I don’t want my 9-year-old to dress as she enters in the teenage years. I don’t know when yoga pants became the fashion, but I found it inappropriate how some of the young ladies were dressed. Being a single parent and working on a college campus worries me about if I am raising my daughter to have values, integrity, and confident.
