Bitterblue By Kristin Cashore

Sometimes people improvise lies to escape from a specific situation, but they don't understand the consequences until it is too late. This issue can be found in the book Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. In the book, Bitterblue, the young queen of Monsea is confined to her castle by her advisers. Bitterblue sneaks into the city at night and meets two thieves named Saf and Teddy, and lies about her identity in order to figure out why they are stealing from her. Despite all inquisitive situations and clashes that the characters endured throughout the story, I would change the settings if I were to re-write this book. Regardless of the conflicts in the story, I would alter the setting of the book because it would be intriguing for the characters
to live in the modern world rather than a fantasy world that is filled with kingdoms. In fact, it would be extremely interesting to conjecture how the characters' personalities will change if they resided in an area where transportation was simpler. What can also be considered is the everlasting sound of cars crashing and horns blaring can affect Bitterblue, as she is easily distracted and is compelled to examine charters and documents. Another reason that it would be stimulating is that in the modern world, there is advanced technology which results in better means of communicating. At first, Bitterblue was obliged to sneak out at night to meet Saf and Teddy, but with technology, she would be able to communicate with them through the internet. Moreover, Bitterblue is exceedingly wealthy while her friends are commoners, and makes it likely for her to be in the upper-class while her friends live in the slums, placing the story in a position in which the the novel forms of interacting could heavily impact the plot. This book impacts the way I regard the differences between different time periods, because now I know that people change frequently because of the time period.
