In this story ‘’ Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures ‘’ Vincent Lam states that love sometimes could be difficult and the longer we stay with the person the harder it is to say goodbye. This story can influence lovers to believe more and deeper about love, but family could impact their decisions. The story had been built in a romantic sequential to attract the reader’s attention. Furthermore, the story developed dramatically and provide a high faith about love.
The story is taking a place in the snowing city, Ottawa, Canada. Also, the story is consisting of four main characters. Ming was playing the role of a round and dynamic character, while Fitzgerald is playing the static and round character. In addition, the father and Karl were playing the role of the flat characters, which Vincent made his great touch on the character personality.

Unfortunately, Ming had two problems with her family. Initially, her father didn’t like Fitszgerald, which made her nervous most of the time when she takes a walk with him. Secondly, Ming was always scared that her cousin’s would spot her while she’s walking with Fitzgerald and they might make gossip about it.” Except that her cousins and family’s friends were numerous on campus, and might notice her and Fitzgerald walking together without any academic justification’’ (7). In addition, she would be in trouble with her father, if he knew about Fitzgerald. She said’’ her family was modern in what they wanted for her education, and old-fashioned in what they imagined for her husband. They would disapprove of Fitzgerald, a non-Chinese’’ (6). The father always wants Ming to study hard; therefore, she can make him proud. Before Ming boarded her father squeezed her hand and told her “How much honor she would bring to the family if she succeeded” (30).
