The Blue Bayou Restaurant located in New Orleans Square was first established in 1967 because Walt Disney thought that the quality and service of outside food vendors were poor. Not only did Disney want to improve the quality of his food, but he also wanted to attract more guests by attaching the restaurant to the famous theme park attraction named Pirates of the Caribbean. The decorative theme of the restaurant truly felt like stepping into another world. The theme was the Blue Bayou, which is typically set in New Orleans, Louisiana. The inside of the restaurant feels like it takes you straight to an adventurous midnight dining experience surrounded by fireflies, enormous trees, and the swampy waters of New Orleans. When you first walk into the restaurant the first thing you will notice is how dark it is because it imitates the beautiful starry midnight sky in Louisiana. The lighting fixtures add to the beautiful theme because the restaurant it displays medium-sized lanterns of different colors like red, yellow, green, and blue. The theme successfully imitates a having romantic dinner on a summer night at the Bayou. The romantic ambience is something that really stood out to me because of the beautiful decorations, low lighting, and the quiet setting. Each table had only a candlelight giving the atmosphere a nice, warm glow which really sets the romantic setting. The low lighting effect with the candlelight helped make the atmosphere feel more comfortable and relaxed for the customers. It helps the customers feel like they are having an exclusive dinner only with the people in their party. The Blue Bayou also had the feel of a romantic ambience because of its calm and quiet setting. There were plenty of people in the restaurant and even a theme park ride right beside the restaurant, but it seemed that the volume of voices and noise were lowered because of the dark setting. The Blue Bayou Restaurant takes guests to the humid bayou in Louisiana without ever having to travel outside of California. The dreamy atmosphere of this restaurant is enhanced by the creative theme and romantic ambience.
