Bottled Water Vs Tap Water Research Paper

There are many debates, papers and articles going back and forth saying that one is better than the other and so on and so forth. One person will say ,”that bottled water is better” and another will say,” no way tap is better.” Almost like the on going argument that went on in Bobby Bushay’s head in the movie Water Boy where he was saying H2O is better than Gatorade. But when it truly comes down to it tap water is really the winner. It’s better than bottled water in many ways in general. Firstly it costs a whole lot less than bottled water, secondly because most of the time bottle water is that same as tap, and lastly it does not make landfills bigger unlike bottled water. In my research I have found some very disturbing facts about bottled water which only helps tap water’s case even more. Like the fact that people 300x times more on bottled water than tap water. That’s just horrible, in the article Bottled Water Costs 2000 Times As Much As Tap Water is is quoted,” that bottled water costs 1.22 a gallon and that is 300x times more spent on bottled water than tap”. And it quickly adds up because, ”eventually ⅔ of water bottles are sold in 16 oz bottles.” That makes the price of gallons for water go up to more like 7.50 a gallon,according to the American Water Works Association. That’s almost 2,000x the cost of a gallon of tap water and
twice the cost of a gallon of regular gasoline." That it just sad that people will pay more for bottled water than the price of gas.
Another reason tap is the champ in the big argument is because bottled water is just the same as tap.
So that means when people say that bottled and tap water are completely different they just don’t know the truth. on the website wecare2.com it talks about how,”40 percent of all bottled water in the U.S. is actually taken from municipal water sources.” The article then continues saying that,” Bottled water companies are literally bottling up the same water that comes out of your faucet, jacking up the price and laughing all the way to the bank.” So how can bottles water be any more special than tap water when it’s the same
thing.
Water bottles are just a danger to the environment. Where the most damage that tap water can do to the environment is make it wet. the water bottles just pile up and make landfills bigger more harmful. On the national geographic website it says that,”More than 80 percent of recyclable plastic bottles end up in landfills each year.” Also the fact that bottles do not decompose naturally and that it just add dangerous toxin and chemicals that can be harmful if inhaled or just dangerous in general.
Bottled water is considered so much better than tap water still even when multiple facts have been given about tap water. Like how it most of the time the same thing that you drink from the tap at home that is way cheaper. Or how that water bottles are very dangerous to the environment and fill our landfills and do not break down naturally. Tap water is very good for you and is so much safer and more affordable for you. Please do not be one of the many people that contribute to the prices of water bottles that can even cost more than gallons of gas. Nobody should have to pay more money for water than gas.
Like I said tap water will always be the winner in this debate. There are just so many facts to back up tap water. Tap water is just as good as any bottle of water if not better. I believe that the facts have spoken for itself. If you still think that bottled water is better than tap then you need to educate yourself about tap water.
