Breaking Things Essay
The segment I chose had a central topic of, “Can breaking things make you feel better?” We all deal with stress. Whether it arises from family, jobs, drama with best friends, a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, and finances, stress is everywhere. Although, there are lot of stress management method, and it is better than breaking things during stress, but I believe that, this project is a quick stress reliever. Few questions that been asked are, what is the average ragger? And the owner response, “normal people like ourselves. Older people who have lots of stress – a divorcee.” A lot of women coming, is that sounds surprising? Steve Shew says, 70% of our clientele is women, I don’t know why but I can tell a few….” A couple ragger were asked also, when did you decide to rage together? What it’s feels like after you’re done? The couple response, they started a couple weeks ago and it’s a big relief after they are done.
The central claim of this segment is “Breaking things helps you release stress.” They are breaking cups, bottles, glass, and old printers. People are happy letting out their aggression. The feedback from their frequent customers are all positive. Other, were asking when they are going to open a branch on their place. Mostly, people that has been to rage room said that “it feels good.” While it may be an easy way to let go anger, experts warn that breaking stuff like this are not a replacement for anger management therapy. Sanja Marjanovic, a psychologist from Belgrade, said that modern science looks for ways to control frustrations before they explode into full-blown rage.     Anger is a normal and necessary human emotion but can also have an effect on an individual’s aggressive behaviour. Anger is a person’s response to things such as threats and it can bring strong, aggressive feelings as a defence mechanism when being attacked. When the anger begins to get out of control it can become damaging and this can then lead to continuous challenging behaviour.     _Unbroken_ by Laura Hillenbrand is by far the most interesting book that I have read in my young life. I was enthralled by the story and it forced me to think about my own life. The clear message of the book is to never give up and don't let anger or bitterness get in the way of a great life. For without the raw evil of Watanabe Louis' post war life couldn't be so powerful and redeeming. There are so many great plot lines in this book: the rise of Zamperini as an Olympic athlete, his heroism towards his colleagues while on a raft for 27 days, his courage in the camps despite the torture, but his greatness really showed when he was able to transcend his pain and its incumbent bitterness to turn his own life around. This was the most gripping part of the book for me because most people would have acted very differently than Louie if put into the same situation as him. His survival and eventual happy life was a testament to not only his will but to his ability to see into himself and make changes. While there were many significant and meaningful parts to the book, the most compelling parts of the book were Louis Zamperini's life postwar and what he had to do to save himself, and the relationship with Matsuhuro Watanabe, also known as the Bird.…

    They based their studies on prison populations. This is also a form of the drive theory and attributes aggression to an impulse created by an inner need whereby frustration causes aggression and this forms a cycle where continued aggression leads to more frustration and then further aggression and onwards Bandura, 1978). In other words, there is need to expel or “catharsis” the frustrations from time to time or this manifest as bursts of aggression. Frustration results from the gap between expectations and achievements (Bandura, 1978). Other researchers have subsequently determined that apart from frustration, other causes exist for aggression.
