In the book there the girls have been separated from their father for over 15 years and have been told nothing about him and that he is just bad. This makes me wonder what he did after all. I believe he did nothing wrong and that he was trying to stop the girls mother from drugs and the mom took the girls and left
him. In the book Carney practically raises her younger sister Janessa since her mom always leaves to town to get her new “shipment” and she calls it. Years earlier Carneys father could have been trying to get her off the habit by taking it from her and yelling at her about it and that could be why Carney remember faintly of her father yelling. Then one day Carneys mom had enough and fled. Another potential answer I have is that maybe he was cheating on her. When Carney and her sister arrive at their father’s house they find his new wife and daughter Delaney. Delaney is about Carneys age and she is rude to Carney. She always pokes fun at her accent and calls her embarrassment and that her sister has problems such as when “I guess we’re stepsisters. That’s what my mom said. Although I don’t know if I want to be sisters with a retarted girl” Carney mother found out that he was cheating or that he wanted a divorce she could have freaked out and took off and when she began to head to town she could have then started to get into all the drugs. Throughout this book many questions pop up about what Carney and Janessas father did.
I think I should get a 10/14 because I worked really hard on this and tried my best.
