Britain Should Have No Power Over Us
It is time we fight back. Britain should have no power over us, and if we do not do something about it, then they will have just that. What do you suppose we would do if that were to happen? What would we be? That is right, we would be a colony, and only a colony. The British Parliament cannot rightfully tax us. But if we do not stand up for our rights and independence, we may as well consider ourselves screwed.

Although we have excellent leaders, support from France and other nations, Britain has much more advantages. They have a superior army with well-trained soldiers as well as a Navy to act as a threat to us. Our army men have not trained well enough to step onto the battlefield. In fact, we do not even have enough money for supplies.

Soame Jenyns felt the same way about England’s right to tax. Jenyns was a member of British Parliament and in his work “The Objections to the Taxation Considered” he states that the British have the authority to tax the colonists and he talks about virtual representation. This is the belief that a member of Parliament virtually represents every person in that empire and there is no need for specific representatives in the colonies. His main argument against the colonists is that no Englishman is taxed by his own consent. Every single Englishman is taxed in Britain and the majority are not represented so the colonists are not alone. On page three of his work, he asks them why they didn’t object to the protection England provided to them but…

The first reason I think that we should change our relationship with Britain is because of taxation without representation. U.S. colonists are getting taxed on tea, paper, glass, lead, and tea without any representatives in Parliament. Parliament made lots of people poor because of taxes on everyday items, which, in turn, caused the colonists to…

My fellow colonists are also in fear because if we pay one tax to Parliament we believe that Parliament will start to apply more taxes and may leave us in a financial burden. As stated in The Stamp Act and Virtual Representation,” The colonies, however, had never paid direct taxes to England and feared this law established a dangerous precedent.” This proves that if the colonies pay taxes to the British Parliament the Parliament will expect the colonies to keep paying taxes. Another quote pulled from the article The Stamp Act and Virtual Representation is,” The colonists felt that once they payed one tax, England would impose an over-whelming financial burden on them.” This demonstrates how the colonists also fear that with these taxes many…

We tried fighting back but the plan didn't work out to well soil decided to get some help. The taxes were getting more pricey due to the amount of people forced to buy items, paper to “help” the British empire king James the third. With Britain’s growing debt from the war that was accumulated from protecting and fighting for the American colonies, Parliament was put in a difficult place. If the Parliament had tried to gain this taxing consent, I feel that the colonists would have been less resistant with Parliament. During this time many American colonist like Patrick Henry, who was part of the House of Burgress did try to find a resolution, which ending up only upsetting the British government. The First Continental Congress only really wanted to limit the power of Parliament, determine their rights as American colonials and ways to resist the Coercive Act. The Coercive Act, basically gave the British the authority over the colonies causing even more issues and resistances against the British government. In 1774 the American colonies where not ready for independence, they truly just wanted a say for themselves.…

We the patriots of america believe that we should be separate from Great Britain for many reasons. We feel that we are being over taxed. King George had us pay for his French and Indian War. We did not want to go into this war but he made us. To get back his money he came up with several laws and new taxes, such as the Stamp act, the Sugar act, and the quartering act. We were treated very unfairly by Great Britain. They made us house and completely take care of their soldiers all at our expense. We have no voice or say in how much we are taxed, when we are taxed, or even why we are taxed.…

As we all know the monarchy has been part of the British constitution for centuries and has played a big part in the past British culture but do we really need a monarchy in the 21st century and if we do what way do we benefit from this.…
