My English can be considered broken English because most things I say I would repeat or reword when speaking because I unconsciously say things as if I was still back home in Chicago. Having a basic conversation use to take forever because my peers and I would take long pauses so that we could take the time to put context clues together on what we meant because of the accents and the 8 different kinds of slang that we would use.
In the group of people that I hung around we were all from different places me being from Chicago, my best friend being from New York, and most of my friend being from Virginia. There were several different words that we had to teach each other or get use to each other using the opposite. In Chicago we use the word “pop” but when I came to Virginia everyone was saying “soda”.
