Broken Fence
The government claimed that they have increased the border patrol and manage to catch many more illegal immigrants than before who tried to cross the border either via foot or by road. When illegal immigrants tried to sneak into the country only 1 out of 4 are being caught and the rest who are not caught must be thinking lucky. Some of them manage to jump over or crawl under the broken fence. Whichever way they tried, some illegal immigrants succeeded most of the time that’s explained why we have so many illegal immigrants manage to cross the border so easily. Undocumented immigrants believed that the grass is greener on the other side which is the America. The border fence is not as strong as it should be. “Border patrol itself admits a certain impotence in the situation” (Daryl Cagle, “chapter 6/What’s the Big Deal about Immigration?” page 248).

Immigration some say immigrants are crucial to the American dream. Some says we should open up the borders and broadening immigration quotas and try to build big walls. Deport all the illegal immigrants back to where they come from. Are we kidding ourselves currently the immigration have estimated 11 million illegal immigrants, imagine what will happen. These 11 million people will try to cross the border again. At least 8 million illegal immigrants grant work permits so that they can work and support their family not to knock on the government doors. Just imagine what happen, we will have bigger issue filling in the gaps for those jobs which American people don’t want to do. Our food prices will go up because farmers will not find cheap labors. Housing markets, car industries and manufactures even school might need to close because of few children come to school. America is not about that all. Instead of trying to find ways to send these people back home, government should look into their broken

In today’s society, America is faced with the problem of illegal immigration. Every day more and more illegal immigrants are crossing into the United States from foreign countries. Border control from Mexico to the United States does not work, obviously, because there are not enough Border Patrol agents to place at least half a mile apart from each other. Instead of finding a way to prevent the immigrants from coming on over, the United States just threw up a fence (like that will stop them!) and put police aka border control on the roads that lead into the United States from Mexico. Border control is like birth control, if you do not care or do not enforce it every day, then it will not work.…

It is estimated that 8 million aliens are residing in the United States with more than a million arriving each year. These indicates that there is a loophole that could be exploited by terror organization to ensure there operatives enter the country. Some of these illegal immigrants enter the country with the intentions getting meaningful employment. However, others have the intention of passing through the border undetected so that they can later carry out terror activities against the American people. The current influx of illegal immigrants and individuals overstaying their visas has exacerbated the situation for border and interior enforcement agencies capacity to specifically focus on organized crime, violent felons, as well as terrorist groups because they use the anonymity that the current system offers them (Johnson, 2014; Stewart,…

Ever since this country was first discovered and settled, people from countries all over the world left their homelands and migrated to the “New World”. People from Spain, Germany, France, England and Asia traveled great distances to reach a new land of opportunity, to perhaps escape religious persecution or tyrant rulers. For centuries America has been viewed as a place for a fresh start, a place where anybody can come and begin a new life and follow their hopes and dreams. Even today people come to America for the exact same reasons that they did all those years before. However unlike the immigration of our ancestors, the immigrants of today aren’t able to just come here and do what they want without anybody noticing. Today most people view immigration as a problem to the United States. One of the most easily recognizable groups of today’s immigrants comes from Mexico. The Mexican immigrants often come here for better economic and living opportunities than they had at home. But no matter how much these immigrants want to better their lives for themselves and their families, most Americans feel that they are trouble and a drain on our resources. Despite what many think, the Mexican immigrants are helping our nation. The immigrants take many low end jobs that Americans do not want or are over qualified for, they can also boost our economy with the money they earn from working, and they diversify the nation. Immigration does and will contribute to a better America.…

A major problem the United States faces today is illegal immigration. The United States is a country founded upon immigrants who have come here legally and made productive lives. Illegal immigration is a drain on the economy and poses an excessive risk to the citizens of this country. In a post 9/11 world the U.S. faces many challenges and foreign enemies like never seen before in the past. Border security is an issue that has not been taken seriously, yet is the one critical issue that is vital to our nation’s national security and preservation. It is estimated that eleven to twelve million undocumented immigrants live and work in the United States, roughly one in every twenty workers, according to a study by the Pew Hispanic Center (Pew Hispanic Website). Most illegal immigrants that enter the country do so from the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2007, some 880,000 people were arrested illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico broder. According to the American Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR), eighteen percent of illegal immigrants fall below the poverty line (Fairius.org). This is compared to eleven percent of the poverty stricken individuals who are native born. The implications from this is simple for the United States: illegals are twice as likely than native born citizens to apply and receive some sort of federal assistance that is taxpayer funded. Annualy state governments are spending anywhere between eleven billion to twenty two billion dollars to provide aid to illegal immigrants. Another major problem faced by our current policy of allowing illegal immigrants into our country is approximately two billion a year of tax payer dollars are spent on WIC, food stamps, school lunches, etc. Our country spends two and a half billion dollars a year on Medicaid for illegal immigrants and roughly seventeen billion a year is spent…

Immigration has been an ongoing debate in the United States for a long time. Every year, there is a growing number of immigrants arriving in the U.S to find a place of refuge while others just want to achieve the American Dream. The American Dream is the idea that people should have the opportunity to succeed despite their circumstances. However, not everyone that enter the United States do so legally. Many do so illegally by being smuggled or overstaying their visit to a friend or family member in the U.S. As a result, the U.S government has made an immense effort to protect the border by ensuring that only the people legally permitted to enter the U.S. can do so. According to the Census Bureau “immigrants added more than 22 million people to the U.S population in the last decade, equal to 80 percent of total population growth.” Many argue that this large number of immigrants has been a result of lack of or poor border security as well as a broken immigration system but that is not always the case.…

Before the Border Fence was built on August 29, 2008, America was facing and still is facing one of the gravest threats ever. The lack of security and law enforcement agents, has caused so much havac and danger to the citizens of America and Mexican residents. We the citizens of the United States of America are in extreme danger with all the activity going on in Mexico, that is vastly spreading into the U.S. The drug cartel, human trafficking and terrorists are on the rise; we are forced to put up a permanent barrier to prevent and protect our country from these horrifying acts. The barriers are strategically placed to migrate the flow of illegal border crossings along Mexico and the United States international borders. Construction supporters cite to ongoing escalation of national security risks, relating to cartel border violence and their possible co-operation with overseas terrorists. Opponents claim the barriers are a taxpayer boondoggle and that the barriers are inappropriately jeopardizing the health and safety of those seeking illegal entry into the U.S. They also claim it destroys animal habitat, because it prevents them from reaching food and water. Some argue that the fence and construction of it damages the environment. Federal Agents and Border Patrol Agents agree that the border fence works great and also say it is one of the “best investments our country could have ever made.” Prior to the fence being built thousands of illegal immigrants were crossing over to America, the crime rate and illegal activity was detrimental. Residents couldn’t even go outside…

As more and more Americans head to college and aspire to get high paying white collar jobs we are experiencing a massive scarcity of blue collar workers. Everyone is chasing a college education; hence we have no one to the low paying, back breaking jobs. Illegal immigrants provide the backbone for the American labor force. If we are to deport them, it would create a huge shortage of laborers causing the economy to come to a standstill. America has been a nation that has been built by immigrants and we need to stay true to our tradition of welcoming immigrants and providing them with a fair chance to chase the American dream. Immigrants come to United States and work extremely hard to provide for their families and repay them by threatening them of deportation and paying them wages well below the minimum wage.…

Many families who were once living the American dream with all the pleasures of life, have lost everything due to illegal immigration. Immigrants who have entered the United States illegally, and have no documentation with reference of being a citizen are taking minimum wage and part-time jobs from our young adults who are trying to enter the workforce. Due to illegal immigration, every single day criminal gangs are roaming our streets, hospitals are providing free health care, wages are lost and taxes don’t get collected. After all of that, the immigrants who have came into America legally, their Visa(a document issued by a U.S. consular officer that allows immigrants to enter the United States and apply for admission to become a legal residence) expires and they continue to live in the United States and are considered a noncitizen and we are still paying for them. All across America, citizens are standing in grocery store lines trying to make ends meet and they can barely feed their children while watching illegal immigrants use welfare and food stamps to benefit their families ahead of us.…

The biggest problem of immigration is the way it has divided America. During this last election, I heard the topic of Immigration discussed more than I’ve ever heard before, and most of it was opinion, rather than fact. Immigration has triggered the most disgusting fears of many Americans, the “foreign people are coming to take over” fear. In my opinion, immigration is a good thing, as it brings diversity to the United States, which is something I value very much. Many people believe that immigrates come to America, rent homes, use the U.S. and then leave. However, according to the Center for American Progress, 50.7 percent of immigrants are homeowners, compared to 64.6 percent of U.S. citizens. I’ve heard quite a few people say that immigrants…

Today our nation is faced with many problems and one that seems to stand out is an immigration reform. Many of those who reside in the U.S may not see it as a big issue, but in reality it really is. An immigration reform would not only help our nation’s struggling economy but it will also allow our government to keep better track of its residents given us a sense of higher security. Those who oppose such reform fear it will only serve to decrease job opportunities due to the increase in completion for places and ultimately burry us deeper in this troubling economy but with an immigration reform, there would be a stop to the separation of families, a boost to the economy and nation’s security will also have its benefits.…
