BSE Veterinary Services is a special laboratory that is carrying out tests on cattle to make sure that they don’t have any infections before they are sold. Currently the lab carries out 12,000 test each period, but since there have been issues with the beef herd the demand is expected to increase to 18,000 tests a period. This would result in more man hours, working additional shifts require cents to be paid to each technicians on the additional shift. It will also enable a quantity of a 20 percent discount to be obtained for all materials if an order was placed to cover 18,000 tests. The decision making model I would use to make my decision is the organization process model, there are five models in this decision making model. It is already known that we need more man power and hours to increase the number of tests BSE Veterinary Services has to do each period and how much it is going to cost.
