Building information:
Admission building in Effat campus
The building is five stories with two cores, each one contain 6 elevators
Preconstruction Phase:
a. Site Investigation:
In site investigation, the structural engineer designed the foundation base on the soil investigation done by Excavating about 160cm underground, the land used to be a valley before it was leveled, so investigation helps in testing soil’s bearing load and properties.
b. Project managing After the engineers have examined the site, all technical drawings are in the trailer office, where the material documentations, architectural and structural drawings are placed for site execution.
Construction Phase:
- Materials and crane trucks loads the supplies from
outside of the campus area at night; to prevent concrete bleeding and segregation caused by traffic at morning, other factor of placing the concrete at night is due temperature and it takes almost 45 minutes to arrive to the site.
a. Columns and formwork:
- Some special constructed columns required special type of formwork like; steel curvature forms, other areas with normal constructed column framed by squared wooden formworks.
- Circular columns used curvature formworks, the steel curvature formwork arrives in two semi circular parts and attached on the site by nut ball
- Splicing for the reinforcement steel bars are done by tying in site
- Stirrups done by tying in site for all different columns
- Extended steel bars from the column used to connect the columns from the lower level, to the slab then to the column from the upper lever
b. Foundation and Slabs:
- Different types of foundations used for elevators, where elevators requires deeper foundation than the columns.
- The entire project is on slabs with no beams, only slab caps are all around the columns, slab thickness is 30-cm. while the slab Cap thickness is about 15-cm. located directly underneath the slab,
- The scaffold has to be designed
