The Slumdog Millionaire is directed by Danny Bolye. Jamal Malik, is a contestant in a television show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” is just one correct question away from the big prize. Then, he was arrested and been tortured by the policeman in a district accused of cheating in a gameshow. Jamal tells parts of his childhood with his brother Salim, his crush Latika and their fight to survive to justify of each correct answer, guided by his common sense and past experience to prove his innocence.
This movie is just not talking about the poverty or the life in the slums, nor is it about a gameshow or millionaires. It is more on caste, culture, globalization, basic needs and humanity.
From the movie, Slumdog Millionaire, the first thing that can we look is the child labor which is in Malaysia is prohibited to hire children to do work. However, because of the poverty of the citizen, the children have to work to earn some money. Another than that, from the movie itself it show that, the beggar can be a sources of income too. From the movie, Maman the owner of the beggar business used the prohibited ways which is he discover neglected children, and make them to find money for them. Some of the children are also been blind in order for them to get more money while begging.
Other than that, the hero of the movie, Jamal works as a tea server in a call center. The call center is a true image of India now, which is most of big country are outsource the technology to India country since there is low cost labor. Most of IT specialists are from India. This show that, now India now is moving from lower level of income country to middle income country.
