1. Background Information
The proposed business will be registered in line with the requirements of Companies Act under the name Nkosinate Farms. Nkosinate Farms intends to commence operations in the horticultural field although there will be a bit of mixed farming. The farm will produce vegetables for the ever growing market in Botswana especially Molepolole and surrounding areas. The vegetables will be produced under a controlled environment of state of the art green houses that will promote high yield and production of vegetables that would otherwise be out of season under open farming.
The Promoter Mr. Bongani Kraai has identified the opportunity to start such a business due to the fact that majority of vegetables consumed locally are from the neighbouring country and would like to promote the countries’ food security in line with the ideals of Vision 2016. The other major advantage will be that of cost to the end consumer as products will be more affordable as they are produced locally and do not have a component of transport costs as compared to competing imports.
Vegetable production is a technically viable business and there is sufficient market to absorb the whole production as demonstrated within the marketing section of the business plan and the business is financially viable.
Mr. Kraai has currently works for Stanbic Bank Botswana and has gained a lot of experience in the running and management of businesses. He will use the experience to
