In the article “Buying Into The Green Movement”, Alex Williams speaks about the so-called “Eco-friendly” advertising that has been affecting the green movement for years. He also mentions how poorly educated rich people have been buying into this movement and how it affects the environment.
Our transportation and the things we use in a day affect our environment dramatically. Oil plants, gas plants and many other big companies release pollution into the air and put things in the water, that then affect us and our environment. While these big companies know all about the “green movement” they start false advertising “Eco friendly products” when these products actually hurt the environment and these big companies can make a quick $80 dollars. That can cause major problems in the future for our planet. Not only that but by having to harvest and plant the materials needed to create these items, people need to clear out entire areas to plant certain crops other than the ones originally there. This can cause problems for native animals that need certain environments and plants to survive. Many animals could be on the verge of losing their habitat including their food, water, and their home, because of factories being made to supply people with the products that are supposed to be helping the environment. The media and public figures don’t tell people about the negative parts of their products and causes the customers to buy completely unnecessary products that do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.
