To begin, I am compassionate towards every patient that I see at the hospital. In order for a patient to trust you, he or she has to sincerely believe that you care about helping their overall wellbeing. To illustrate, there was a rehab patient whom I gave care to, at my first CNA job. When she entered the hospital she never thought that she would gain back the strength to walk again after surgery. Because of my encouragement and support, she began to partake in physical therapy and she had a hopeful outlook on her recovery. It was incredible to see how my care had a positive effect on her, physically and emotionally, during her short stay. Her family also noticed the improvement, which they reported to my supervisor. I ended up receiving a promotion from the experience, and I walked away with gratitude. I know that you have to work extremely hard in the nursing program, and I will do everything it takes to obtain the highest level of success. Similarly, I work very well under pressure, which has been proven through my work as a CNA. For example, one day there were three new patients whom had just arrived from the hospital, and I was the only CNA available. For three different patients, I had to assess ambulation concerns, take vital signs, set up medical equipment, and answer additional call lights. In fact, I answered the call light of a patient just before he was about to fall out of bed. In the end, I completed each task, while providing effective patient care. My hard work and determination will naturally transpire into the nursing program by allowing me to succeed in every aspect of the clinical and classroom
