There were three parts for this assessment, part A-C. For all parts, I gave Landyn Lego pieces to use as manipulative. In part A, I read Landyn a sentence, and then I asked him to use a Lego piece to represent each word. He got 2/5 correct placing him in the Intensive category. He struggled with multi-syllable words by considered the syllables two separate words. In part B, I gave Landyn a word and asked him to represent each syllable with a Lego piece. He got 6/8 correct, placing him at the top of the Strategic category. He seemed familiar with the concept of syllables. In part C, I gave Landyn a word and asked him to represent each sound or phoneme with a Lego piece. He got a 2/10 correct, placing him at the top of the Intensive category. For each part, Landyn was given a set of letters and asked to either identify the name of the letter of give the sound. In part A, he was given uppercase letters and he named 26/26. In part B, he was give lowercase letters and asked to name them, he got 22/26. He struggled with j, l, t, and q. In part C, he was asked to give the consonant sounds. He got 17/21. I gave part C again the following session and he received a 21/21. However, I omitted this test because it was isolated and used as a review. He struggled with j, y, h, and q. In part D, Landyn was asked to give both the short and long vowel sounds. He got 5/5 on both. His total score was 75/83, which placed him in the Strategic category. I gave this assessment again during our final session and Landyn received the following scores: part A, 26/26, part B, 25/26, part C, 20/21, and part D, 5/5 on both.
