Caelia D Romulus Monologue
Caelia S D Romulus, How does being the king feel? It must feel like a relief because you had to kill your brother to get in this position. Did you kill your brother out of hatred or did you still care for him because I am very eager to know. I bet being the king is a hard task, I have not been one myself because I am simply a woman, but it seems hard enough just to help one person with their problem, but with millions of people, that must be the toughest task in the world! I admire that you were cared for by a she-wolf when you grew up. Do you remember any of it? I bet it was hard, knowing that no one except for a she-wolf would care for you, until Faustulus, the shepherd came along. Did you admire the she wolf? If I were you I would of ran …show more content…
If you still loved him, why couldn’t you have just shared the rule and had the kingdom on both hills instead of picking one hill and killing him over it. Couldn’t you have had two different cities on the two different hills? If you killed him out of complete hatred, shouldn’t you have gave him a chance to go find his own city instead of just killing him when he climbed over your wall or found a better solution than killing him?
On to my next subject, the Rape of the Sabine Women. Why did you and your army do such a cruel thing? I know that you all cared about the future of your city, but why did you have to do it this way? Did you really want such a commotion with the Sabines? I understand that the Sabine women ended up being willing participants? Hersilia, one the Sabine women who became your wife, was she a willing participant like the other

I must be kidding myself! You probably have been to thousands of cities because of all the wars you have had with other cities. Are the other cities surrounding Rome beautiful or are they all trashed battlegrounds? If it is beautiful, I will have to visit sometime. When you travel out of Rome how many supplies do you have to carry or do others do your work? Trust me, I love it when other people help me with my things, but I am not like a typical king who has someone do everything for him because I (usually) don’t like controlling people and if someone was carrying all my stuff and doing all my work I would probably have nothing to do during my free time.
Overall, our lives are completely different. I am not as powerful as you, like I said in the beginning I am simply a woman and I do not receive any power at all. Also, you and I are different because I am calmer and more caring, no offense, but you are a little brutal. Especially with The Rape of The Sabine Women, but I understand that your city depended on it. I admire that you are a king who will do anything to keep your city safe, up, and running! I hope that you send a letter back about the current things going on in Rome, it would be very interesting, for I love the history of the Roman

Belonging represents the need for individuals to find their identity and place within a society. This results in the growth of individuals and their understanding of the world around them. Through reading the novels, "Romulus, My Father" and "Looking for Alibrandi", we are helped to get a better understanding of the concept of belonging, belonging to a country, belonging to family, and belonging to a racial group. As well as the struggles of not belonging and being an outcast because of race. "Romulus, My Father", written by Raimond Gaita, is a true story about Raimonds father, Romulus. Gaita explores the concepts of belonging to a family, belonging to the Australian landscape, and not being accepted because of the fact that Romulus was an immigrant. We belong when we feel connected to others and the world. Romulus found it hard to fit in when he arrived to Australia. This is understandable as immagration invariably involves detachment, loneliness and isolation. His first two years in Australia saw him working for the government, isolated from his family. Romulus did not physically belong to the community due to his appearance, "everybody noticed his eyes, almond-shaped, hazel and intense." Colour imagery is used here to contrast the lighter colours of the stereotypical Australian. Romulus was embaressed about his dark complexion, "he called himself gipsy and later in Australia, an Aborigine". We see here that Romulus changes his story, in a plea to belong to a community or environment. Romulus doesn't dwell over the isolation he feels, instead he has "come to accept what fate dealt him". He feels he is not owed anything better then what he currently has. As time progresses and members of the community realise the blacksmithing and handyman skills he has, he earns respect. It was because Romulus treated everyone with great respect that he was eventually accepted and finally felt a sense of belonging.…

As a tragic hero Brutus possesses a flaw of naivety. Brutus is too trusting in others, such as the conspirators. The conspirators believed that Caesar was too ambitious and that they should kill him for the good of Rome, themselves and for their own personal benefit. Brutus trusted that they were conspiring to kill him for the sake of Rome. (Quote). He was also naïve by letting Antony speak at Caesar’s funeral. Brutus believed that Antony would praise Caesar at his funeral and follow the rules that he was given. Brutus trusted him and by letting him speak Antony turned all the Romans against him. Antony sparked a civil war by convincing the Romans that the conspirators that they did wrong. Since Antony turned all the Romans against him, he…

Brutus was in the senate so he was supposed to give great speeches with structure. Antony was a general so he was not as good at giving speeches but was good at pumping up his solders before battle. Which he used to his advantage when speaking to the mourning crowd.…
