Company History

Café Coffee Day (CCD) is a subsidiary of India’s largest coffee conglomerate, Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Ltd. (ABCTCL). ABCTCL grows coffee in its own estates of 10,500 acres. It is the largest producer of Arabica beans in Asia. ABCTCL is one of India’s leading coffee exporters. Mr. V.G. Siddhartha founded CCD in 1996. The first CCD outlet was setup on July 11, 1996 at Brigade Road, Bangalore. As of today they have 1481 outlets across the nation. They acquired Café Emporia, a Czech republican café chain in 2010. Under Café Emporia, they are running 11 café ‘s in Czech Republic and Austria. The company is known for being vertically integrated to cut costs: from owning the plantations, growing the coffee, making the coffee machines to making the furniture for the outlets. CCD’s other divisions include: -
a) Coffee Day Fresh 'n' Ground, which owns 450 coffee bean and powder retail outlets
b) Coffee Day Xpress, which runs 900 plus Coffee Day kiosks
c) Coffee Day Beverages, which runs over 14,000 vending machines
d) Coffee Day Exports, its exporting wing
e) Coffee Day Perfect, it’s fast moving consumer goods packaged coffee division
f) Coffee Day B2C Plant, Coffee vending machine manufacturing in India

OVERSEAS POTENTIAL

The greatest potential may be in international routes as traffic in and out of India, unlike domestic traffic, has grown every year in the past decade, even during the economic slowdown.

Our assessment is that SIA is not coming just for the domestic routes. Its biggest strength lies in inter-continental long-haul flights.

Nearly 70 per cent of global traffic from India is west-bound — to the Middle East, Africa, European Unions and the Americas.
