Canada is a very vast country, both culturally and physically. We have very large provinces with large cities and metropolises such as Toronto and Vancouver. When you think about it, our country is both united and divided in many different ways. Besides the obvious lines around the provinces, there are many ways that separate parts of Canada from other parts. In return, there is a wide range of things that bring Canadians together as well.

One way is our federal government and its laws. Although many people may not be supportive of the government, they keep our country running and try to have it function as smoothly as possible. Another thing that unites Canada is our participation in worldwide and international sport, such as the Olympics or World Championships. We see it every 2 years or so: Canadians all over coming together to support and participate in activities surrounding these events. We cheer on the Olympic athletes and we celebrate together when we win medals and titles. The Olympics is a major factor for uniting Canadians, as we are all very proud of the athletes that represent our country and come home victorious. The last factor for uniting Canadians can also divide them, and that is our culture and traditions. We do see how they divide our country, but they also bring it together by celebrating the religions and certain traditions that come within a nationality. For example, there are festivals held for things like the Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and even Christmas, where people come together to celebrate their beliefs and traditions through parades, parties, and meals. People are united by their cultures, their religions, and their love for certain things. This is very important when we think about the ways Canada is
