Canada Statement of Purpose
Statement of Interest

In past 10+ years of my IT field after securing Master degree in computer science from my home country, Pakistan , I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to practice and contribute in almost every field of IT, from help desk support to consultancy and IT project management and from user applications support to large enterprise level IT infrastructure administration and designing working with all nuts and bolts of client-server computing, database, messaging, networking infrastructure designing and administration and Security hardening of all layers of IT infrastructure.

My decision to return to University now and earn my Masters degree stem from determination that I have specific needs that can be best met within this MITS degree curriculum. I have reached the point at which there are no significant new opportunities available to me in the current area of my expertise. This is time to move on to new areas of IT like IT Security, Cryptography etc.

Being in the IT world I am, of course, well aware of your reputation as one of the leading universities in Canada offering this exciting program. The high caliber of the faculty and student population would provide me with a challenging and highly stimulating environment in which to study. The skills and knowledge I would get in UOIT will be my asset as I continue my career.

Your program seems totally congruent with all of my requirements not only because of its structure but also because of its pragmatic approach to teaching.

I first became interested in IT Security…………..(write Story…..)

Now I have seen what I can accomplish-and have specific goals relating to career in IT Security-I believe my potential is great. I have passion, ability and experience, and I believe that with all these I can make a difference.

I am very passionate, driven and intense individual who thrives on both challenges and competition. Although I did not distinguish myself academically

Nobody is too old to strive for the furthest goal. When I reflect on my career progress so far, I am far from being satisfied. I am always a contractual employee. A regular job seems so difficult to find. Last February 2013, a regular position opened up in DEF Office and I decided to apply for the job. Seven of us got in, until 3 of us were left. I was the second placer. The result of that application is still unknown as of today but I seldom heard that my experiences in DEF is nothing compared to the master’s degree which the first placer has that is why I decided to pursue a graduate study. I learned to accept both criticism and praise with a positive frame of mind. I knew an advanced degree would open far more doors and give me the academic grounding and credentials I could leverage for years to come.…

Very few people have the opportunity to work in the career of their dreams but, if this opportunity presented itself to me, I would choose to be an IT specialist. When I decided to go back to school my objective was not only to raise my knowledge and receive a degree, but I decided that the only career for me to pursue would be to earn a degree in computer science. Not because any other degree wouldn’t be helpful, I can learn anything necessary to do a job, but because by earning a degree in computer science I would be able to fulfill a dream of mine that I had held since my early days in school. I want to be able to help people with their computer problems when they can’t understand it enough to fix it. Those who work as computer specialists are constantly dealing with some form of new computer technology. They may build and design new systems, or they may provide consultation on the purchasing of computer systems for a company, school, or small business as to what type of computer system to purchase.…
