• A Congressperson who is on the verge of establishing a coalition of world leaders to institute a world peace plan.
• A convicted child molester who is halfway through a rehabilitation program
• A medical researcher who is actively involved in cancer research
• A second-grade teacher
• An exotic dancer
• A professional ice hockey player
• A musician/conductor
• A mother of a preschooler and first grader, who is pregnant with her third child
• A priest
• Yourself
Think about how you would choose the five people or what other alternative you would initiate. Also, think about your own values and your thought process for making the decisions.
In the discussion, discuss the following questions:
As the Captain I know just how to handle this horrific situation. First as captain I must go down with the ship, leaving nine people to choose from. Secondly it is easy to pick off the mom since she is pregnant and will need too much assistance and could only hinder the five people chosen. Third I could cross off the congressman; child molester and second grade teacher, each of them have severe health issues from disgusting life choices and in their careers. They would not have lived past a few years anyway, so I don’t feel bad.
This leaves the medical researcher, exotic dancer, hockey player, musician, and priest to get on the life boat for a chance to survive.
