Abstract
I am currently employed as a Veteran Service Officer in a State government position. In this position I am the assistant to the Director of the Legislative Delegation and Office of Veterans Affairs for Richland County, which is located in Columbia, South Carolina. My journey and my career development as a manager and administrator really started to take shape with my enlistment into the United States military. I hold a Masters in Public Administration, and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Human Resource Management. These degrees have contributed considerably to my understanding and ability to work in the area of public administration, State Government and assume roles that allow me to use the knowledge I have obtained from these areas of study. However, as a life-long learner, I am aware that I will need to continue to pursue education in management either through training offered by the organization or pursue it on my own. I will also need to continue accreditation CEUs for my role as a Veteran Service Officer. Accreditation training is mandatory through the Federal Veterans Benefit Administration and our local County Veterans Association. Joining and participating in these professional associations lends creditability to the work that I do.
I will also need to further my education through finding a role to play in State Government Associations to learn more about how the local government does business. It is important for me now at this point to network within the legislative body so that I can demonstrate my skills and ability to take on any role opportunities that can be
