I love to cook and cook for my family and friends as it gives me great pleasure to see them enjoying my food. If you have a true passion for food you can be very successful and happy.

Discuss this career in terms of the subjects you are studying for the Leaving Cert:
Math and economics so you know how to figure out food cost, how to develop good food purchasing practices and methods. How to deal with food purveyors. If you can't make a profit for the restaurant you will be out of a job sooner or later.
Art so you know how to make food look as well as taste good and Home economics to maintain good nutrition and how to increase or decrease recipe quantities - especially those for baked goods. How to adjust recipes for high, of even very low altitude
