I will start off in an entry level position and learn more about networking, configuration, security and management. I will move into a junior level systems administrator job after 2-3 years. I will gain more experience on providing enterprise support to Linux servers hosting Red Hat and CentOS and latest Linux distributions. I will gain an understanding in compiling and Installing Apache HTTP, MySQL and PHP. Some of the things I need to learn as a junior level systems administrator will include: using Linux Bash shell in performing system administration task, configure local firewalls and managing Iptables on host systems and Servers, troubleshooting network connectivity issues on severs installation, configuration and management of DNS, DHCP, NFS, NTP, FTP and Samba on servers, Apache Web server installation, configuration and support and configure and setup remote access to servers using SSH and Key-based Authentication. During this time I will also get certified as a Red Hat Systems Administrator. After 2-3 years in this position I will have gained working experience and knowledge to become a Linux Systems Administrator.
