Reading Response on a Career-Related Article The article I chose is called “Wanted: Young workers to do a new generation of jobs”. The reason I chose this article is because it relates to me because I am young and interested in work and the article mainly focuses on that. This article relates to Career Studies because with the advancement of future technology, more jobs will be created especially for teenagers and young adults. Career Studies focuses on jobs for me and employment for younger people. This means that there is a similar connection between the article and Career Studies. One quote from the article that discusses the innovations of ideas that affect our career is “It shows the evolution of technology and how quickly things are moving and how people and businesses need to adapt.” This affects my career choice because I want a job that involves technology. Another quote that describes the theme of the article is “Workopolis said almost 300,000 jobs went unfilled in the second quarter of 2013, indicating there are opportunities for young professionals.” This quote describes the theme of the article because it discusses young people pursuing jobs which is basically what the article focuses on. I have learned many new things from this article. I learned that technology has expanded rapidly and will throughout the future years. Also, I learned that young people can obtain jobs with the power of technology. Young adults and teenagers have the skills to work with technology unlike elder people.

Since technology has become such a major part of our modern day lives, there is much speculation on how fast we are actually accruing new technologies. According to Moore 's Law, we double our technology every two years. This number has actually been updated to 18 months recently, and we can only expect that new to become smaller and smaller. (Greene, para. 1-6, 2011) In other words, we are learning more than ever! Out with the old, and in with the new. This is especially true in the world of business. Technology helps businesses to better reach their customers, organize records, and to establish an online presence. (Swanson, para. 5-11, 2012)…

Another way that young people are prepared and selected for their future work roles is by education giving them the “specialised knowledge and skills they will need when they join the workforce”, as mentioned in item A. This is done by providing a trained and qualified workforce in education by the introduction of vocational courses like modern apprenticeships which combine training and part-time attendance at college, meaning that they learn on a job as well as learning in an education environment. New Right are the sociologists which focused a lot on marketization of education which focused on encouraging competition between schools so that education would improve, providing a better work force for society and in turn, better preparing young people for their future work roles.…

Every year it seems like companies come out with bigger and better cell phones, computers, cars, and iPods. Just when you thought you had the best, something better comes out. This is because technology has advanced since past generations. As the future generation, we have the role of creating bigger and better things. Since technology is advancing, our education also has to advance. Our grandparent’s idea of a computer was a lead pencil and a notebook. In the future our school list is going to consist of laptops. My generation is so much more complex. We have to learn how to use new technology, otherwise it is pointless. Our minds and thinking have to be able to…

Americans today tend to believe that college education is not an option but more so a necessity. “Why are so many parents trying to encourage their kids to attend college”? Is it because they are trying to control their lives? Or maybe it’s because they are just awful parents? I say that it’s completely the opposite of that. Parents just want what’s best for their kids; they don’t want them to have to fight the struggle of the daily grind. Nobody wants that life! Although a college education could be costly, it is worth the cost because it can help young African American males find a career instead of a job, and it could be beneficial to their child’s life.…
