One performer whose gesture and energy stood out from the rest during his solo made a lasting impression. Dee Moses and his double bass electrified the stage. Seeing a concert like this for the first time was quite an experience and seeing how it was almost real made me feel like i was actually there. The opening sounded so familiar when I first heard it, as if I heard it in a movie of some sort. Instantly as the Choir sang the most climactic notes, the images of all kinds of movie trailers and battle scenes came to mind. I was finally able to label the sound that directors and editors use in their scenes of suspense. It was always Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna”. This piece can easily be recognized by anyone that has seen an action movie, because of its adrenaline pumping sound. After the opening, another tune that felt like a battle scene played. “Fortune plango vulnera” had to be my favorite. It was dark and maintained the feeling of a battle scene with every breath of the choral lining up with with the bass to give a striking melody that felt like thunder striking more than once only to lead up to the verse.
