Part IV: Discuss the chosen CSFs for the organization– Why were these particular factors selected? Why are they important in accessing the success of the company?
The primary goal of Mothers In Charge is to create nonviolent communities that are healthy, educated, and with full access to benefits and resources for a safe nation (Mothers In Charge, 2018). Mothers In Charge (MIC) has a mission that describes its purpose and direction, and achieving the mission takes the involvement and dexterity of the entire organization. As expressed by the executive director, in order achieve their mission MIC must consistently perform well in key areas organizational capacity, fundraising, and leadership (personal communication, January 30, 2018). The consideration of the agency’s critical success factors (CSFs) during their goal setting process consequently creates a bond between the goals and CSFs; which in return contributes to accomplishing the organization’s mission (Caralli, 2004). For example, in order to expand the organizations staffing capacity, they have to increase the income revenue. The organization cannot efficiently use their resources without a governing body to provide guidance. However, Mothers In Charge has made significant steps under the CFS on Board development as they decided this was the most perilous matter within the organization. Per the Executive Director, they recently appointed several members to the board of directors; conducted an on-boarding training for the members; and established five board committees to steer and oversee the organization (personal communication, January 30, 2018). The five committees utilize the scorecard measures as evidence of success for the agency’s objectives.     Carol Berkin’s "Revolutionary Mothers: Women in the Struggle for America's Independence" is an excellent book that I immensely enjoyed. When many people think of the Revolutionary War, they might imagine George Washington gallantly leading his men through the winters at Valley Forge or the like. Berkin begins her masterpiece by giving a general overview of the roll that women played in our countries war for independence. Now I, like many others come to think of the iconic role model women like Betsy Ross and the fabled Molly Pitcher, but this star of a book opened my eyes to the everyday revolutionary woman. The running theme throughout the book is the fact that women during the revolutionary war were notable participants on many levels deemed beyond worthy of admiration.
