1-Green Valley Medical Center is a nonprofit teaching hospital affiliated with a large state university and had grown since its foundation in the 1930s with continuous support from state revenues. Since it is a nonprofit organization its main goal is not to create profit for the investors, but to reach their institutional goals, which in this case is to offer good service for the region it is located in and to train the students that attend to the state university that the medical center is affiliated with.…
Coronary artery disease is one of the most prominent forms of heart disease. It occurs when the coronary arteries that supply the heart blood become narrowed, and eventually occluded. This narrowing typically takes place because of plaque build up due to cholesterol and other fatty substances being ingested, also called atherosclerosis. This thickening of the artery wall can take many years, eventually completely inhibiting blood flow. Because the blood flow has stopped, little oxygen gets to the heart, and the myocardial cells therefore die. This is when a heart attack ensues, also called a myocardial infarction.…

Of course, “even though teens are experiencing a wildfire of tissue loss in their brains, that does not remove their accountability.” (Thompson 10) There are additionally situations where the child is irrefutably psychopathic (Jenkins 7), but that is the minority. Another of Jenkin’s arguments is the lack of education amongst people concerned with this debate. She claims that children are not sentenced to die in prison (Jenkins 11) or that brain development occurs at the same rate globally (Jenkins 6), but she is wrong.…
It’s never easy to accept the fact that a child can commit a serious crime. The reality is, it happens all over America and it has to be stopped before it starts to spread. The article, “On Punishment and Teen Killers” by Jennifer Jenkins is a more personal stance on the minority side of the situation, but it is the truth. Jenkins argues that The Supreme Court allows the underdeveloped brain theory apply to a situation like murder. This is the argument in Jensen’s case. In the article Jensen states “If brain development were the reason, then teens would kill…
Meghan is a fourteen year old female high school freshman with a history of anorexia. Her pediatrician has discussed the fact with her parents along with Meghan that she is fifteen pounds underweight for her height. The average weight of a fourteen year old female is one hundred-five pounds (Disabled World 2014) and with Meghan’s weight at ninety pounds, this is cause for alarm. The doctor has ruled out any other health factors in her lack of weight gain. At this point, with Meghan as a minor, her parents must actively pursue treatment for her long term health and well-being, along with presenting Meghan with the resources to understand she will face severe consequences, both physically and emotionally, if her anorexia is not dealt with and managed. The future for Meghan and her family may be a difficult one to endure. Anorexia is a serious condition that can be life-threatening and should not be taken lightly.…
Upon reading the article title, I was compelled to read the article and see what it entailed. At first glance, I questioned what the teenager could have done to deserve to be tried as an adult in court. I cannot tell whether you support the action of the prosecuting team or not. You did a splendid job keeping your opinion out of the article and avoiding bias. However, there are some pieces of the article I would like further explanations on if you have the details…

The Therac-25 was a radiation therapy machine produced by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) after the Therac-6 and Therac-20 units (the earlier units had been produced in partnership with CGR of France). It was involved in at least six accidents between 1985 and 1987, in which patients were given massive overdoses of radiation, approximately 100 times the intended dose. These accidents highlighted the dangers of software control of safety-critical systems, and they have become a standard case study in health informatics and software engineering.…
One of the factors that may lead the first grader to take this action could be the way his parents contribute to the child's life. As I was reading the short article, it mentions that for no one was a surprise that the 6 year old killer was being raised in a neglectful and abusive environment. Analyzing this situation from my point of view, I think they were many factors that lead the child to the point of wanting to take control of the problem in his hands. One of those factors could be the abandonment of the parents. Why? Probably the child tried to communicate to his parents about the situation at school but the parent’s lack of their roles as parents lead the child to take the wrong action toward the problem. We may ask, why…
