CCIB Intake received a call from a concerned parent named Maria (925) 202-9014 who disclosed that on Tuesday, June 7 the facility was having an air conditioner installed. During the installation the air conditioner the contracted propped opened a door. This allowed the unidentified male to enter the facility. The man was escorted out of the facility and the police were notified. According to the RP the unidentified man had been roaming through the neighborhood and appeared to be on drugs. On Tuesday April 25, 2017, Bronx Child Abuse Squad was notified through an IRT of a (six) week old child with serious injuries, not likely who was being medically evaluated at Montefiore Hospital. Investigator’s responded and interviewed medical staff. Doctors indicated the complainant had two skull fractures, two broken ribs and possible medical condition. MRI was conducted showing no injuries to the child’s brain, no subdural hematoma and no sub arachnoid hemorrhaging. The Department received a report with concerns due to the child waiting outside for 50 minutes and no one answered the door. The worker made contact with the child and interviewed her privately to discuss the situation. The child advised the worker this is the first time she was unable to get inside of her house. The worker discussed the situation with Ms. Hopkins. She advised the worker she recently developed a cold and took over-the-counter medication which made her drowsy. Within the police force they have implemented Child Abuse Investigation Units (CAIU) they have access to databases that quickly check information on particular individuals. They provide regular updates with a ‘vetting and barring’ scheme. It is also their responsibility to share information with other agencies regarding children who may be suffering or likely to suffer harm. The police are committed to sharing information and intelligence with other agencies where this is necessary to protect children. This includes a responsibility to ensure that those officers representing the Force at a child protection conference are fully informed about the case as well as being experienced in risk-assessment and the decision making process. They can also expect other agencies to share with them information and intelligence they hold be enable the police to carry out their duties. The police should be notified as soon as possible where a criminal offence has been committed, or is suspected of having been committed against a child. Area Child Protection Committees (ACPC’s) should have in place a protocol agreed between social services department and the police, to guide both agencies in deciding how child protection enquiries should be conducted.…
