Case Study Dallas Cowboys Greg Hardy
Last April, Dallas Cowboys’ Greg Hardy faced a 10-game suspension without pay from the NFL for “conduct detrimental to the league,” as per CBS Sports. Rumors emerged that the 26-year-old defensive end had lost the will to contest the severity of the punishment and would no longer seek legal battle to appeal it. However, more recent reports said otherwise.

According to Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, Hardy is keen on challenging “in court an arbitration ruling that imposes anything more than a two-game suspension” for him.

Florio’s article mentioned that as per the league’s Personal Conduct Policy during the time committed his misconduct, the standard punishment for a player involved in a first offense domestic violence case

In addition, the sanction force universities and colleges to keep track of the sexual misconduct. And then there was deflategate, an incident that took place at the AFC Championship game. The Patriots’ footballs were inflated under the required PSI level. However, the game was played is extremely cold weather, so the cold could have deflated the balls just as it does to tires on a car. There is still question whether or not the opposing team, the Colts’, balls were also inflated. People believed that a Patriots’ ball boy deliberately deflated the balls on quarterback Tom Brady’s orders. Even if the balls were slightly underinflated, they did not have too big of an impact. Running back LeGarrette Blount ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns. An underinflated football would not have a big difference in the running game. A private investigation was done by Ted Wells and he found that it was “more probable than not” that Tom Brady was involved in deflating the balls. Goodell then suspended Brady for four games and punished the…

Upon the release of partial video footage of the assault the NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, banned Rice for two games without pay and fined him $58,000. Many felt that this punishment was insufficient and this message was continued to be reinforced through constant media coverage on the matter. This then led to Goodell revising the league’s policy on assault, battery, domestic violence and sexual assault, instituting a six-game suspension for NFL personnel who violate the policy once, and a lifetime ban for those who do so twice. Although the revision seemed like a step in the right direction, what was to follow was like fuel to the fire for the media.…

25 minutes into the game. The opposing team is on the two yard line. Two yards to stop the guy standing across from him to stop them from scoring a touchdown to put them over the top. It’s the superbowl. The player is blitzing the quarterback. He reaches across the line to plow through the offensive linemen. His hand slips and touches the player’s facemask. Now instead of being fourth down, it is an automatic first down plus the player is ejected. Why? Because he accidentally had a false start at the start of the game. Three strikes and you’re out, but now in the NFL it’s two strikes and you’re out. Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL had proposed during the 2015 Super Bowl that a player who has…

American football as we know it originated from rugby played in Britain in the mid-19th century. The person who Americans consider the “Father of American Football” is Walter Camp. Professional football can be traced back to 1982, when there was a $500 contract for the Allegheny Athletic Association and the Pittsburgh Athletic Club to play a game against each other. Originally football was primarily a sport of the Midwestern industrial towns in the United State. In 1902, the American Professional Football Association was formed and two years later the National Football League. The competition was fierce between the two leagues, which led the two leagues to merge. Football eventually became national. When the two leagues merged is when…
