This was the case for young Billy Johnson, a young kid that struggled because he was completely blind. Jude’s does everything they possibly can to help their young children entirely free. They receive 6.6% of their funds from government grants, but most of their funds are private grants or public little donations. They have commercials, bake sales, concerts, sponsorships, etc. to raise money for the hospital. St. Jude’s, brings in a revenue of $1,387,576,052 and distributes it to 2 main programs. It was essential to some families that a hospital like this opened up because it helped them through medical bills, and ultimately their child’s serious condition. I strongly believe that they have one of the most advanced programs in the nation, and they don’t take it for granted. A young boy named Peter was diagnosed with a large tumor in his brain about the size of a golf ball. His family did not have the money to get the best treatment. That was until they found out about St. Jude’s. He is now getting treatment and his family is living in a 2 bedroom apartment right next to the hospital free of charge (St. Judes).
Even though there is no cure for cancer yet, they have come up with many ways to care for it and sometimes they can get rid of it. In the 20 century, cancer was a major threat and if you had it, there was an 80% chance of dying. They have now matched that with an 80% survival chance.
