INTRODUCTION
Most of the people give a very little thought to the roads they drive on every day, and tend to take them for granted until those roads are closed for repairs, washed out in a flood, or in some way rendered impassable.
For so many years, Filipinos enjoyed a wide, extensive, and well-maintained system of roads accessible to everyone especially in the big cities of the country. However, some Filipinos in the mountainous area didn’t get the chance of having these experiences because of different problems such as the difficult terrain and the financial aspect.
In the Philippines during the early part of the 1900, transportations depend largely on trails, waterways, railroad, earth roads and partially graveled roads. Highway in the Philippines is nothing more than a dream to most Filipinos. But fifty years later, major highways and expressways were constructed through the financial assistance and loans from foreign banks.
The year 1960 to early part of 1980 was considered an automobile age. Government new concept of development is to get the farmers out of the mud. It was during this decade that road construction becomes a matter of priority of the government under the slogan: “This nation is on Wheels”.
This study presents the conceptualize perceptions of some Civil Engineering students about the road specifically located in the Arellano Street. This study also includes the technical properties and problems in the road.
