My mother is a registered caregiver, and she has had to deal with this issue several times. One case of this that I could directly relate to is when my great uncle developed a severe case of osteoporosis and she was tasked of taking care of him. His osteoporosis made it very difficult for him to sit up correct to breathe, which lead to him wheezing and cough a lot. Another way his osteoporosis affected him, was how frail it made him. As he grew older, and his knees grew weaker, he would often times try to walk somewhere and be unable to which lead to him falling and becoming injured. He had broken his forearm and damaged his hip badly, which then made him wheelchair bound.
This affected the way my mother had to take care of him as well. As he became frailer, my mother had to take extreme care as to how she would move him, and assist him do his everyday activities, such as use the restroom and get dressed. Any sort of hard or fast motion would damage his bones and cause him an immense amount of pain, so she had to devise ways of assisting him while limiting these areas of motion.

Osteoporosis is a serious issue and if care is not taken then the health complications that arise from it can be fatal and the complications of the survivors unbearable. I feel as osteoporosis rates increase, the issue should be addressed and treated with a lot more
