Staff went to Mentoring Youth Children's Home 2700 1st Avenue, Columbus, Georgia 31904 on above noted date and time to pick up Cynnyia Tucker (13) for behavioral aide. Staff transported Cynnyia to Columbus Public Library to help her with her homework. After Cynnyia completed her homework, staff transported Cynnyia to Lake Bottom Park, 13th Street Columbus, Ga, where we remained for the rest of the behavioral aide visit. Staff encouraged Cynnyia to play basketball to promote a positive way to manage her anger by doing something she is interested in to relieve stress and negative emotions. CM conducted a phone conference with Alison Scarpignato (CMS), Rossana McElroy (CMO Clinical Consultant), Beverley Watson (DCP&P Team Lead) and Phillip High (DCP&P worker) in regards to a follow-up on treatment recommendations for Sinai (youth). The team discussed youth recent f/f meeting at Bergen Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, 4/4/17. CM explained to the team that youth is requesting to be placed on medication in order to cope with her father. Phillip reported he have not finish reading Sinai’s evaluation, however, the recommendations are for youth to live with her mother, Tanya Austin Maccagno. Both parties returned, and Amy’s mother stood firm in her request that the Lovass method be implemented at school. The school stood firm in their view that it was not feasible nor in the best interest of the child to implement this method. The school offered the parent information about alternative choices in Ohio for parents of children with special needs. Amy’s mother was not aware that Amy’s diagnosis of PDDNOS qualifies her for a $20,000 per year scholarship where the parent can take her to any approved provider of their choice for an alternative education or therapy. Intervention Guidelines: Effective intervention requires a discussion of expectations and agreement by James. James seems to respond well to being validated for appropriate behaviors as well as having a part in decision-making processes involving his welfare. Simple and gentle redirection with reasonable explanations appears to produce results with James. It is best to intervene with James once he has had time to consider options and choices. When stressed, James needs to have the opportunity to process his frustrations with a neutral party; as previously noted, pitch and tone are triggers for James, effective de-escalation must include monitoring ones pitch and tone. Mathew’s treatment progress this reporting period is considered satisfactory. As indicated above, Mathew has regressed in a few areas of treatment that he will need to work on the next reporting period. He has had difficulty completing homework on time, self-reporting issues, challenges/successes, and asking for and accepting feedback without denial or defensiveness. At one point this reporting period Mathew decided that he no longer wanted to participate in the treatment group and only have individual weekly sessions. He cited needing more work in the treatment book because he did not understand many of the things that are being discussed in the treatment group. Since women make up half the workforce in today’s society, the previous views or perspective that a woman cannot due both successfully has become a hot topic. CM spoke to Ms. Quinones (caregiver) regarding schedule CFT meeting for today, 4/5/17. CM was informed that youth has a scheduled IEP meeting on Monday, 4/10/17 at 9:00am. CM and caregiver rescheduled CFT meeting to take place at the IEP meeting. CM will be present; caregiver stated IIC will be present as well. Caregiver noted youth has been emotional such as crying for no reason due to her new medication. Caregiver contacted Dr. Dellert to discuss this matter and as a result, youth is not on any medication. CM and caregiver talked about youth challenges in the school. I have always been fascinated with human behavior. Somehow I instinctively knew that our behaviors are affected by many environmental factors. Thus, as a child, I found myself always attempting to psychoanalyze the behaviors of my friends, family, and television characters. In 2005, I enrolled in LeMoyne Owen College. Since LeMoyne does not offer a major in psychology, I elected sociology as my major. Although I loved studying the theories associated with Sociology; I wanted to pursue my studies in Psychology. As a result, I transferred to the University of Memphis in 2007. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and look forward to earning a Master Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I feel strongly that this is the path that God has put in place for me to take. RIP is an internationally recognized parent implemented program in which parents learn to work directly with their own children. Experienced RIP parents provide training and support to newly enrolled families. The program is available to families in which there are concerns regarding a young child's behavior, and is coordinated by a professional resource staff person. Pt states that he didn’t mean these statements he was just thinking them out loud. Pt states that he is in special education and he was once in general education but he is having a hard time transitioning due all of his peers in his class are “special”.
