There are some other strategic benefits that both companies could achieve through the merger. For example, because of operating synergy (also referred as economies of scale), the new bigger entity (after the merger of Stonewall and Canadian Wallboard) would to be able to save its cost through enjoying more purchasing power when purchasing raw materials and other necessities. Moreover, the merged organizations can share their office space and eliminate duplicate manufacturing facilities. And a merger usually results in employee lay-off as positions become redundant in the new entity so that some labour costs could also be saved. Marketing budgets might be trimmed to achieve better efficiency as well. Furthermore, if the cost of business operation is lower, that cost will be passed on to the consumer, resulting in a stronger competitive advantage as the wallboard market is very price…

There has been a magnificent discovery in Bethel, New York at the historic site of the Woodstock music festival in 1969. We have found a time capsule with a treasure trove of items that seem to remarkably symbolize the 1960’s as a whole. The items found in the capsule consist of: a piece of the Berlin wall, an article referencing the end of the Cuban missile crisis, another picture of the JFK assassination, a protest sign from the 1963 March on Washington, and an autographed picture of Neil Armstrong on the moon.…

"But Kemmons Wilson, now a distinguished combat pilot, did return home in 1945 and he and Dorothy began raising their family. Their five children would soon be the inspiration that changed the hospitality world as everyone knew it" (Kemmons Wilson, a Business Legend, 2004). Kemmons Wilson didn 't just recognize opportunity when he saw it, he seized it! While on vacation in 1952, Wilson channeled his disgust towards lodging prices and poor conditions into what has catapulted him to the top of the hospitality industry. His vision? Not just one hotel, but 400 hotels. Spread out across the country, all within one day 's drive of the next. Each would have larger and well-maintained accommodations that were unheard of in those days. If it was up to Kemmons Wilson, no longer would you have to drive your family from a hotel to a restaurant because his hotel would come equipped with one. It would also have a pool for the kids, who, by the way, would stay for free. As his ideas drafted to paper, an old Bing Crosby movie gave his up and coming hotel chain it 's name, "Holiday Inn." Kemmons Wilson 's intuition into what comforted others, proved to be second to none. "Just ten years later, his 400th hotel went up and he was averaging two new hotels a week" (Kemmons Wilson, a Business Legend, 2004). Kemmons Wilson, still seeing room for improvement, "was the first to introduce computerized reservation systems, having IBM create his Holidex, enabling reservations made, for any one of his hotels, with just one phone call"(Kemmons Wilson, a Business Legend, 2004). Holliday Inn set the new standard in hotel hospitality. By the time "Kemmons Wilson retired in 1979, there were over 1500 Holiday Inns in over 50 countries, bringing in annual revenues of over 1 billion in dollars" (Kemmons Wilson, a Business Legend, 2004).…

Although Be Our Guest was a dominant force in equipment rental, their “full service” did not consist of providing tents. They may end up saving on high labor costs and prevent themselves from incurring lower margins but nonetheless, they lose at least $20,000 in revenue per order. Aside from tents, the company’s other competitors are not as significant as they mostly include other businesses who either generate the same profits or handle larger jobs yet take up less market share. They made sure that from just the catering perspective, caterers would contact them unless they had their own rental operations, which is also viable competition.…

I believe as I reflect on the things that we went through in the course and the other things I’ve researched on the internet there were a lot of different populations that the criminal justice system serves. One thing that I have seen is a need to fix the overcrowding in most of the prisons and jails in the United States. There seems to be to many misdemeanor and non-violent crimes in the corrections division of the prison system. We need to focus on more of violent crimes and figure out what to do with the non-violent crimes. By no means should any crime go unpunished but we have to as a group of professionals figure this out and how to deal with it.…

Society today, has changed people in the way how they act, and dress. The short story Barbie Q explains that a Barbie is the ideal woman. The Barbie is an example of what women believe to be perfect. The quote “So what if we didn’t Get our new bendable legs Barbie in nice clean boxes and had to buy them on Maxwell street all water soaked and sooty”(Cisneros). This quote means that anyone would buy a Barbie for a cheaper price because they didn’t have the money at the time and who would care if the dolls were wet or smoked. For example the barbie with the melted leg putting a dress on the doll would cover the leg. this event talks about women these days where men rate the women from very beautiful to ugly as they show in the story where the…
