After analyzing their financial position, this report concludes that Allegiant is a satisfying target for investment. Allegiant has three main sources of revenue which include: service trips, ancillary revenues and fixed-free contracts called charters (stocks.investopedia.com). Even though the economic environment is not at its peak, Allegiant has managed sustained growth. Its low prices have kept demand buoyant, and it is one of the few airlines that saw profits go up in the face of skyrocketing fuel prices. Additionally, their stock prices have increased throughout the years and the values of their shares are increasing.…

In this research project, we are evaluating two sectors from an analysis of the financial statements of five companies from each sector. One of the sectors that we will be analyzing is the financial sector. Under this sector, we are focusing on commercial banking. The top five companies for our analysis are J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs. The criterion in choosing these companies is U.S. based firms ranked by the highest revenues in 2013. An important distinction that sets this industry apart from others is the heavily involvement of the government. For example, the Federal Reserve sets borrowing limits, interest rates, and how much deposits in a vault are to be held. The government has great authority, especially with fluctuations of interest rates, in the profitability of the financial sector. These banking institutions are currently regulated at the highest degree since the financial crisis of 2008. The second sector we will analyze is the airline industry. An airline is a company that provides air transport services for traveling passengers and freight. Airlines either lease or own their aircrafts that they supply these services with. Airlines take passengers across the world servicing everyone from business passengers, tourists, and business entities that use services for commerce of products. The airline industry is a service industry which is structured based on the service the airline provides, what the airline is in business to transport, and the revenue potential of the particular airline.…

RyanAir stands out as it is the only low-cost carrier among the airlines examined. The strengths of this LCC compared to the “legacy carriers” such as Delta, United, and American is that the company serves only relatively short-haul routes throughout Europe which cost cheaper to operate and generally are not a huge loss in case of non-full flights. This allows for flight cost structure to be controlled easily and RyanAir has perfected the formula for offering cheaper flights to value-conscious consumers while realizing high margins for their flights. The disadvantages of RyanAir involve its network that is controlled in growth which only allows it to compete in the European market as opposed to the international market. The advantage of the legacy carriers compared to LCCs such as RyanAir involves the global network serviced by these airlines. American, United, and Delta are very strong not only domestically in the United States but internationally with service among 6 continents. The disadvantage of operating as many routes as a legacy carrier would is that profit margins would be lower as long-distance flights are less cost-effective than short-distance routes. On an investment standpoint, RyanAir should be a strong competitor in the market due to its business structure that allows it to maximize profits while maintaining a busy network…
