Catholic Church's Lack Of Knowledge During The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages was impossible to gain knowledge without think on religious knowledge. The Catholic Church was the owner and the institution responsible for construct knowledge. Thus, the population receives it from the priests. The problem was that, the knowledge received was the knowledge that the church wanted to pass for the society.
As only the priest knew how to read the Bible, they create their own interpretation of God, creation, heaven and condemnation. In consequence, their knowledge was the one passed for the commoners, that was: a bad and angry God that condemn all the sinners; the creation was explained in the Bible and the science must follow it; only would receive or get into the heaven if make contribution for the church (buying indulgences, heaven lands or even the forgiveness) and who did not do it, would be condemned by God.
However, Martin Luther saw what was happening, and with it, the time changes. As the questions was increasing how would be possible to construct the religious knowledge? As in the method of doubt - elaborated by Renné Descartes - would be necessary to doubt everything until the time that would be impossible to doubt.
