Pets are an important part of most households and most consider them part of their families. There are many different kinds of pets; some you can cuddle, like cats and dogs, and others just cool to have, like tarantulas, fish and snakes. Almost every household has either a cat or a dog, but most people do not realize the similarities and the differences between the two.
Our pets are like humans, they all need to eat, drink, sleep and bathe. With every member of a family, there are expenses and responsibilities. This includes our pets. Cats need to eat every day and they have a clean, fresh litter box to use when needed. Cats usually do not take traditional baths because they lick themselves clean and do not like it, but can be groomed. While grooming is necessary, they usually do it themselves, so baths from their owners is not needed, and it is more of a preference. Dogs need to be groomed or bathed on a regular basis. Unless dogs are short haired, they need frequent baths and grooming. This includes trimming their hair, especially on their belly, since it is prone to knots and matting. At some retail stores like Pet Smart, there is the Pet Smart Top Dog grooming package that you can get for $18. The annual cost of cats is estimated to be $450 while dog’s annual cost is estimated to be $650. Some of these needed expenses are cat food such as Purina Cat Chow which is $15.99 for a 16 pound bag. Many cat owners may notice that their cat is stingy with its food dishes only half gone, but the cat may still want fresh food. Dogs on the other hand would chow on whatever is in front of it. Expenses for dogs, like Purina Dog Chow for instance, cost is $14.49 for an 18.5 pound bag.
Like eating and bathing, a necessary part of a pet’s day is using the bathroom. Cats need to either go outside to use the bathroom or use the litter box. Cats are usually easy to potty train while dogs need daily walks.
